What is Travel Ready?
Travel Ready is a travel planning app, which allows you to connect with other people who work on-site at Wellington Hospital and commute together to and from work. You can submit a single request, or you can input your travel requirements over a period of days or weeks. The app will let you know automatically if and when there is a match.
Travel Ready is our latest initiative under the Wellington Regional Hospital Travel Action Plan (WRHTAP).
The primary aim of the WRHTAP is to reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles traveling to and from
Wellington Hospital. The project will be implemented as a trial for up to three years and will be
monitored and evaluated regularly.
You can register as a driver and/or a passenger, allowing flexibility and convenience whether or not you
own a car. See the list at right for all the benefits you can get by using Travel Ready!

Benefits of carpooling compared to driving alone:
- Save money - A driver who logs a carpool trip in the app can set a small fee for passengers to help contribute toward journey fuel costs and vehicle wear and tear. This fee is capped by IRD (currently at $0.73/Km).
- Reduce stress - connecting with others after a work day or shift can allow staff to
decompress before they get home. It can also allow those who wish to catch up on some work to do so
on the drive home, or just relax and enjoy a peaceful ride.
- Park in designated parking - drivers who log a trip in the Travel Ready app will be able to park on campus in the designated carpool parks on a first-come-first-served basis.
- Take advantage of rewards and prizes - save up your points by logging carpool trips
in Travel Ready, and claim a variety of rewards within the app!
- Reduce emissions - fewer cars on the road means fewer emissions, which improves our air quality.
